Education Specialist

The Education Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of educational endeavors based on the strategic initiatives of the organization. 

Essential Functions:

·     Plans formal and informal learning activities including in-services, workshops and continuing education offerings.

  • Participates in the development of the annual education plan and the policies and procedures that guide educational experiences.
  • Assesses and identifies learning needs, and plans, implements and evaluates effectiveness of actions for staff and other constituents.
  • Maintains current knowledge of standards, regulatory requirements, new equipment/technology and trends incorporating them into learning activities.
  • Participates in the design, implementation and evaluation of the formative and ongoing development of clinical staff through orientation and skill validation programs.
  • Develops and provides on-going coaching to clinical partners and other members of the Interdisciplinary Group who participate in education activities.

 Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.

  • Current Iowa Registered Nurse's licensure.
  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse credential to be obtained between 24-36 months of employment if applicable.
  • 2 years of teaching or presentation experience in clinical staff development required.
  • 2 years of hospice experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain educational consultation relationships and group presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply adult learning principles to educational activities.
  • Ability to use A/V equipment and demonstrate strong computer skills (Microsoft).

Clinical Manager – Hospice and Palliative Care

 

Trinity VNHA Home Care is currently seeking outstanding candidates for a Clinical Manager in our Hospice and Palliative Care department - located in our Moline, IL office.  This position will be responsible to oversee the day to day operations of the palliative care and hospice programs for Trinity VNHA Home Care in Quad Cities and Muscatine locations, as well as the

In-Patient Unit in Bettendorf. This is a Full-time position - hours are mostly during the day, but can vary. We provide a great environment and excellent benefits!

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

·        Establish effective mechanisms of communication with staff, providers, patients and the management team to foster an environment of openness, trust, teamwork and staff development.

·        Communicate with management regularly to review service issues and opportunities for improvement to ensure the delivery of high quality service to all internal and external customers.

·        Responsible for the interview and hiring process including completion of employment forms in an accurate and timely manner and coordination of orientation and training programs for new staff members.

·        Demonstrates sound fiscal management of operations program through understanding of and on-going review of financial reports.

·        Ensures that staff consistently utilizes a holistic approach considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients served in assigned service area.

Qualifications/Experience:

·        Graduate of an approved nursing curriculum. 

·        Current license to practice nursing in the State in which service is being provided

·        Three years nursing experience, preferably in hospice and/or palliative care.

·        Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills.
