Nursing Facility Education

The new CMS Conditions of Participation for hospice programs requires hospices to assure orientation of nursing facility staff furnishing care to hospice patients. The training must include education regarding the hospice philosophy, comfort measures, pain and symptom management, principles of death and dying, patient rights and responsibilities and appropriate documentation and record keeping.

Six Des Moines metropolitan hospice programs have worked collaboratively to create the orientation packet below which includes the orientation and training needs for your staff. More information on the training program can be found in the cover letter.
